Friend or foe?

What is the effect/benefit when one clicks on “add xxxx as a friend”?

Mark

Mark,

(assuming you mean on the forums)

The main thing that comes to mind is that being a “friend” of someone on the forums would allow you to track their posting activity. I’m sure you can do some other stuff too, but it seems pretty pointless. Having someone as a friend could be cool I guess if you particularly enjoy someones contributions. Its easy enough to see what everyone is saying to just troll the forums. For what its worth the friend function seems lost on me too…

I’ve tried that for several people, but I still have to troll to find their posts or do a computer search. Any benefits seem to be hidden from me.

Perhaps the “friendship” needs to be mutual?

I’m on several friends lists on other forums. You’re not missing anything important.

Yes friendship is way over-rated, you have to help them move, loan them money, fix their car, give them a ride, they sleep on your couch, eat your food, drink your beer… [swg]

A friend will help you move . A good friend will help you move a body.

I used to have a bumper sticker on my truck that read, “Yes this is my truck. No I will not help you move.”

A good friend will keep you out of trouble. A really good friend will be sitting in jail with you.

A BEST friend will help you chop it up to fit in the suitcase…

Geee----is that all-------?[swg][:-^]

A true best friend will also help throw it into the ocean or an incinerator.

You guys “kill me.”

A true friend will back you up when the Fed’s investigators periodically check your background as needed for continued employment. Similar situations apply, as in offering a couch when you flee from the torture from the woman you once loved.

A true friend will come over and help you ballast your track.

A friend of mine in college had a person living in the apartment next door who actually did that to his girl friend. That assistance is highly overrated.

My suspicion is that this thread is getting a bit ghoulish. Probably should have done it a week ago for Halloween.
