Friends in the hobby

So how many friends do you have in the hobby? (do you even know?)

Thanks to my friend Megan for providing me with this question! [:D]

Rene,

I could almost say Too many to count because just about everyone I have met in the hobby has treated me like life long friends and been very helpful. But I only have one friend (plus my Wife) who was a friend before we got into the hobby.

Jaime

Since I belong to my local GRR club, I guess I have a lot! =)

Nobody likes me
Everybody hates me
Think I’ll go eat some worms…

Friends,
Its such a misunderstood word now-a-days.
I mean,what is a “friend”.
I thought I was TOC 's friend, but he does not think so.[:(][:I]

Since I don’t belong to any clubs or organizations I haven’t met too many largescalers except very casually at train shows. However, I have made a couple of new friends as a result of this hobby.

Well we’ve a group of about 6 who regularly get together with G scale models but there are all our friends who model in other scales who come along to play, oops operate! The guys with layouts borrow stock from the others to test them out before buying, nice to be able to have a bunch you can trust with expensive models. We are all on the lookout for stuff for each other as well, got a 1/20 forklift off IWOOT.com that is fully functioning and now loads my RhB vans.Met two of the group through demonstrating a 20 x 10 layout at train shows.

Not counting my online friends, I guess Benny and Capt Bob would count as real friends that I keep in contact with on and off line. Apart from that, I don’t really have any- You got any worms left TOC?

Yeah, lots.
Nebraska worms…Marty mails them to me…

Hehehehehe

Good one, Dave.

You and I should each get a polygon room built, that way we would have plenty choice when we get sent to “our corner”. [:D][8D][}:)][}:)][:D][:D]

OTOH at least we can still wear our shorts without getting that pained expression on our face. [:)][:p][:)] Yep, it can be a knotty world![;)][:o)][:o)][:D]

Few to me is 2-5, quite a few 10-20 , lots hundreds.

If we include the forums , it would be thousands. You all are my friends aren’t you???

Hi Rene
I voted one or two.
Not strictly true though is it.
Because their is You and every one else on this forum[:D]
regards John

Friends? Not allowed in the Asylum[:-,]

I need to caveat my response.

There are no large scalers within 25 miles of my layout. Thanks to the web, I’ve picked up many friends from e-mails, forums and a site chat. Good excuse to pack up and do some traveling.

Friends? Well if we are counting only those we have met face to face, then I have 3. If we count those friends found on these pages, then I have too many to count.

I voted one or two.
I have just one GOOD FRIEND that is into Large Scale railroading. The Large Scale Railroad Club in my area is now gone so not too many people into Large Scale.

Not enough! Everybody I have met in the hobby has been friendly, but I don’t have enough contact with GRRs to actually call them friends.

Ron,

Did you ever receive my email? If so did it help? Just curious.

Hello Mr. Lynch,
Sorry, but I never got a your email. Did you send it to my email address??
Thanks for your reply,
