Some have wondered at the reason for a coupler at the end of the Skytops that mars the lines and why it was not covered, retractable, dropped, etc. Besides used for hostling, the coupler on the sleeper/lounge Olympian Hi equipment was needed for the reverse moves between Seattle and Tacoma. There are those wonderfully amusing pictures of a dressed-up bi-polar coupled to the Skytop. A modeler’s dream. And BTW, the show of Milwaukee Road art at the MSOE museum in Milwaukee is worth a look, a few curatorial errors aside.
