Why don’t other railroads follow the BNSF example? It’s such a great idea and a great way to improve the perception of railroads among the general public.
Just my humble but I think BNSF has a better PR attitude than the other Class I’s.

BNSF has “Railfans for security” and recently opened a web site called “Friends of BNSF”. Free signup and members can even post pictures there.
I joined the friends of the BNSF and as a welcome they sent me a really stunning color calendar last year. The pics are all taken by BNSF employees if I recall right. I get regular emails from them.
