I recently bought a Proto 2000 E8 in Frisco livery (my wife thought it was pretty). It’s a very nice locomotive, but it has nothing to pull. I’ve looked for Frisco Passenger cars, but the only ones I’ve found are IHC, and I wasn’t impressed. Anything else,short of brass, out there?

Hi Gary,
The trains Frisco E units pulled were an interesting mix. The head-end cars – baggage, express, and Railway Post Office – were all heavyweights and kept the old Pullman Green paint.
The SL-SF did buy some lightweight cars with stainless-steel fluting, apparently from Pullman-Standard and possibly ACF. They had red roofs, ends, window bands, and underbody skirts, with fluted stainless sheathing above and below the windows.
There were also some old heavyweight coaches and Pullman sleepers painted red and silver to match the lightweights, with shadow striping to simulate fluting.
And there were often cars from connecting lines in Frisco trains, especially the Pennsylvania RR. The Pennsy had some cars painted in Frisco colors, but photos also show Tuscan Red PRR sleepers in Frisco trains.
It’ll take some work to model these trains, but the resulting consists would be distinctive.

Most people (me included) to not put their name in the post.
Look for a buyer’s guide to airbrushes at the hobby places you visitl. The $15 one at walmart doesn’t do anthing more than a spray can. Better ones do more.
Be cautious.
Some passenger cars require 22" radius curves and may also come with the old horn- hook
couplers.

If you get some cars with the horn hook couplers, remove the couplers immdiately and get knuckle couplers!!! Horn-hooks are little pieces of junk that are not worth messing with.
The lightweight passenger cars purchased by the Frisco were produced by Pullman Stardard. I personnaly only know of one surviving car the Sterling Price a coach diner with resides on the Midland Railroad in Baldwin KS. As passenger service declined, the Frisco started selling their passenger cars. I currently only know of the brass cars produced by Hallmark Models in the late 80’s or early 90’s and could be found, due to the detail of the cars compared to models today, will be relatively inexpensive.
