From Sunset Models

I asked Scott for any news he felt comfortable sharing publicly about the CPR Selkirk. His response was:

"You can spread the word…

Inspection is going well and they will ship from the factory next
week. Takes about 3-4 weeks before we have them in our hands to ship
to customers.

Scott Mann - China"

So, the word is …WAHOOO!!! [:D]

Crandell:

FINALLY----you’re going to get your Baby. Fabulous! [bow]

There will, of course, be a plethora of photographs as soon as you get it out of the box. I mean, after all this wait, the rest of us DEMAND it, LOL!

Congratulations.

Nice, my buddy just got a PFM Samhongsa, by Van Hobbies T-1c, mint in box, he figures @ 1986 or so, it’s unpainted, but he is a painter, he paid $600 and it’s a beauty. Remember, these locos did not fit on C.P.R. turntables, so construct a wye.

I’m waiting for the “finest CPR steam loco” the K-1-a 3102 Northern, eat your heart out!

Now I understand why you retired from the rewarding job of a moderator to this forum - you need more time to play with the Selkirks.

Lucky you!

Um…they absolutely fit on the turntables in Calgary…

How long were they including the tender, then?

I would be all over it if I was still in HO - , the reason I started constructing a new layout was so I could run these , but I discovered I couldn’t have more than a 16" aisle at the curves as well as 30" radius curves.

They had to turn them in Calgary. In Lake Louise, Stephen, Field and Revelstoke, they were turned on the Wye.

Where did you ever get that information.? Here are pictures of Selkirks on turntables at Revelstoke

I also have pictures of Selkirks on turntables in Calgary, and Field.

Here a Selkirk enters the turntable at Field.

And another Revelstoke picture on turntable - full broadside view

After dieselization through the Rogers Pass the Selkirks were assigned to hauling grain trains in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Perhaps that is where your information relates to?.

They fit on the turntables in Field and Revelstoke. See my posting and attached pics. Lake Louse was straight through. No need to turn on wye.

Sometimes the T1s were used for pusher service out of field if the S2s were being maintained.

Nice pic of the Kirk at Revelstoke. Do you have any pics of it at Field on the table? All I can find are S2s.

My Father worked for CPR at Field, Revelstoke, Calgary.

I have a pile of photo’s of the facilites showing the turntables, coal loading structures, water tanks, He has taken pictures of all of the Selkirks, including the experimental one. Unfortunately I have only the original prints. Tried scanning but the resolution is the pits.

Don7----You are correct, the 5900’s east from Calgary would not fit the turntable in Moose Jaw and I presume not any other turntables on the prairies, these monsters were pretty easy to hit with snowballs when school was out.

I have a few, however, as they are copies and I am not the owner I can not give them out.

Check with the site

They have a fantastic picture of 5904 being turned on the turntable. . The picture is taken from the roof of the roundhouse so you are looking down.

The engine just fits by the look of it. An 87’ engine (wheel to wheel) on a 90’ turntable
