I have noticed that most layouts have some plastic fascia in the front of the layout, it looks to be about 1/8 thick plastic sheet. Where can i find this plexiglass.
The actual facia is often masonite, available at most lumber suppliers. The plexi glass is for a safety fence to protect the trains from taking a dive to the floor and to keep little hands from quickly disrupting things. I got mine at my local hardware store and they cut it to size for me. I got a good deal as they were able to use some scrap pieces left from larger jobs. I would think most lumber stores would carry it also.
There is a video under VIDEOS. Expert Tips (I think) that shows how to add a safety fence to your layout. If you are not a subscriber, there seem to be two, one that can be viewed by non-subscribers.
Good luck,
Richard
I am just looking for that colored plexiglass. I have a small N scale.
Look in the Yellow pages under plastics. Or you can ask at any glass store, what they do not have, they can get. If you happen to be on Canal Street in NYC, there are several such shops that deal exclusively in plastics, but shipping on long pieces will be expensive.
