If the governor of the state of Oregon (thats Oar-ee-gun) doesn’t replace the current G.M. of Tri-Met, pronto, there won’t be a Tri-Met left to run the new LRT lines.
Jay, the problem isn’t Tri-Met, the problem are the unions which are killing them, and the state budget. It is insane home much drivers and operators get paid, and worse… the thousands a month they get in insurance. But the worse is their retirement system, which driving Oregon into bankruptcy.
However, it is exciting news… as nearly three billion dollars in PRIVATE projects have been already announced along the line, with more expects. What other community project delivers a 300% rate of return? NONE… I hope Tri-Met fast tracks a line or two into Tigard and Tualatin, along Barber Blvd., and from Beaverton.
