Hey there, after pouring over information of and on for several months and not finding anything on the forums about it, I feel inclined to ask. I know that as part of the proposed Santa Fe Southern Pacific merger (yes, the lettering on the equipment was reversed from the corporate title) in addition to all of the partial kodachrome examples out there, there were a limited number of examples bearing the full SPSF lettering, namely an ATSF Ce-1 and atleast one engine was lettered, but for the life of me I cannot find a photo of the engine nor have I been able to figure out if the loco was originally from SP or ATSF. Can someone help me in identifying the engine and any other examples that might exist with the completed paint scheme?
It was SD45R 5394 that had the Full SPSF lettering applied to it. It was a Santa Fe SD45 that came thru a full Reman project at the San Bernadino Shops and was chosen to have the SPSF applied to it for Corperate letterheads and such. It never ran a mile in Revenue service with the SPSF on it the SP was a vinyl Decal they removed before releasing it from the shop. Try looking at Railpics for SPSF 5394 that would have been the number that she would have had in the Merged Company.
