That water is awfully, suspiciously blue.
Definitly NOT the East River, thats’ for sure!!!
Out of an abundance of caution, we decided not to drink the puzzle.
On a personal note …
When I retired, one gift to me was a 1000 piece puzzle.
My brother and his wife love putting together puzzles. I found out I was the opposite. I got obsessed with finding just one more piece, then one more piece, then …
When I finished the puzzle, I decided I’d rather obsess over a model railroad layout.
Correct, as the CNJ Bronx Terminal was on the Harlem River.
That’s interesting. People come at stuff differently. When we did the Bronx terminal one, I was all about "Well this is a CNJ hopper, and that’s the ladder on the end, and here;s the reporting mark, so … " My wife, OTOH, she’s all about shapes and colors. She probably did 70% of the puzzle, and much of that was while sitting across the table from me, working at the image upside-down! She’s the puzzle person. That’s the first one (of MANY she’s done) where I worked at it start to finish. She buys them, and has taken to getting railroad ones, hoping I’ll join her more. And it was fun. She just ordered one which, she says, has a diesel streamliner racing a steam-pulled train.
We just ordered this puzzle (and we won’t drink the water once it gets here). I hope we have better luck getting this one than we did last time we ordered one via the Internet (had to change our MasterCard number).
Interesting use for a roundhouse! I will enjoy seeing the old freight cars–they look reasonably authentic, for a painting. We’ve almost always got a puzzle going on, and they’re usually 1000-piece ones. I’ve been busy with research and book editing, so lately Pat’s been the one who does the most work. However, this one I hope I can take a crack at.
Carl, I’m not sure that was ever a roundhouse. Maybe someone on this forum could clear that up.
Is that thing real, or is it just a figment of the artist’s imagination?
It was the freight house.

Thanks, Gramp. I didn’t think it looked big enough to be a roundhouse. Also, it doesn’t look like it ever had the loco exhaust vents. And the track running around it doesn’t seem like something at a roundhouse.
Carl, I hope you enjoy the puzzle.
It’s a fascinating operation with trains arriving and departing by barge.
