Future Floor Wax

I have read many articles about using Future Floor Wax as a sealer for decals and never could find it in the stores. I just wrote to the SC Johnson company and asked about it. This is the reply I got and just wanted to pass the info on to others.

Over the past couple of years, Future® has gone through a few name and label changes. It is now called Pledge® FloorCare Multi Surface Finish, and is exclusively available at Walmart stores.

The product now comes in a clear plastic bottle with a blue cap. You can view a picture of the current packaging at www.Pledge.com/en-US/Products/Pages/floor-care-multi-surface-finish.aspx. It’s still the same great formula – just with a new name.

That said, please know we don’t recommend using Pledge® Floor Care Multi-Surface Finish on models. This is because it is formulated and designed for use on floors only.

Alli is obviously not a model railroader - we use all kinds of products that aren’t “recommended” for models ! [swg]

Yes, I could see my bamboo skewer company replying in kind: “Happy Good Luck Bamboo Skewers are made for use with food products and so we cannot advise on their use to apply flux, small details, paint, CSA or to be built into scale structures.”

You learn in time that if you want info from someone, you have to talk in their language.

If the formula hasn’t changed at all, then I will continue to use it for “spot” decaling. The reply could also be sort of a disclaimer as well, regardless of them having any knowledge of our modeling uses.

For those who are interested, here is a link to the “Complete Future” website: a page that goes into great detail on the use of Future in modeling. In the beginning paragraphs, he talks about the label and name changes, and availability in other countries.

I bought a bottle about 5 years ago and have used it on several model rr projects. I still have about half the bottle left!
