Future Possible Bad Grade Crossing Wreck in Riverside, Calif

On the Perris Valley Line in Riverside, Calif., at Blaine Street and Watkins Drive, I envision a bad Metrolink commuter train wreck, where the inbound (westbound to Los Angeles) cab car rolls down the embankment and several cars are derailed. The culprit will be a vehicle (possibly an 18-wheeler) stopping at the east-west crosswalk and following vehicles trapped on the track. Thankfully, there is a way to avoid such. Simply set the stoplights to stop all ways except for pedestrians.

On a personal note, I myself got trapped there about a decade ago. I wasn’t too concerned because I knew at the time the line was out of service and being rebuilt for commuter trains.
