The National Train Show was cancelled in the summer of 2003 due to the SAR’s issue. A ‘replacement’ show(Maple Leaf) was organized by the local NMRA group sponsoring the convention and was pretty good. I suspect that that summer show was a ‘one time’ event. Most shows would be run in the ‘colder’ months…
The Toronto Christmas show is the best in Ontario. There are tons of smaller ones, of those the Whitby, Bowmanville and the Belleville shows are my favorites. Lindsey isn’t a bad show either but they include planes and boats as well.
Maple Leaf 2003 was the NMRA convention, and the train show was the local response to the American head office cancelling their show.
The previous NMRA convention in Toronto was 1953, so exoect the next one in 2053 if the pattern holds.
The Toronto Christmas show is organized by the same people that put togther the Maple Leaf show,
The show that the local group put on in place of the cancelled event was really good, was well worth attending. I’ve gone to an annual show in Brampton a few times, held at the fairground. It’s a good show. I’d like to see some new layouts at the local shows. The open house that the Doubleheaders in Kitchener/Guelph/Cambridge put on is really worth attending, lots of layouts in all scales, eras and themes.
Immodest me will suggest the Great Britirain Show, also in Brampton, at the end of this month. [:I]
Unarguably the biggest and best all-Britirain show in North America. [bow][swg]
The Copetown show is interesting, and Railfair in Ottawa.
