For those that don’t know, cuting and pasting links into a post, does not make them clickable until you hit the spacebar - then other people can click on it and it will bring the link up, in the same window.
I believe hitting return (or enter) does the same thing too.
Thanks ;o)
Greg,
What browser are you using? I use Firefox 2.0. So that method doesn’t work with the new forum format.
In order to make a “clickable” link in a post using Firefox, I have to:
- Highlight the text that I want to turn into a link
- Click the “chain” icon in the middle top row of the tool bar above
- Paste the link’s URL address into the Link URL text box
- Click the Insert button at the bottom of the box
The nice thing about creating clickable links this particular way is that your link text can be anything you want it to be. It does NOT have to be an actual URL. However, what you enter in the Link URL text box to make it clickable does have to be the actual URL.
Tom
It does in IE7 but not in Firefox 2.0

OR you could just use [url=“http://www.somewhere.com”] Check This site out [/url] tags (without the *'s of course)
works pretty good – Google
Then again, it’s just easier for me to write in the code hooks as I’m typing than to hit the buttons (they do the same thing, but without showing the BBCode or HTML or whatever they decide to use). WOrst part with the buttons for me is that I always end up missing the last character of a hi-lighted link, so then it just looks weird, and is a royal pain to fix…
EDIT – forgot to add that you can use [url]http://www.google.com[/url] and it works equally well, just without letting you choose a different name. (looks like http://www.google.com)
Ah HA! I use FireFox and that’s why they wouldn’t work… I’ll just use the tags, easy enough and I do it for pics and don’t have any problems :o)
