About 10 - 12 years ago I remeber seeing an ad for an Civil War era train set. It contained (besides the train) solders, your choice of Union or Confederate, and artillery pieces flat car load. Does anyone know who made this and if it is still available. Also, any idea as to the scale? At the time it was priced at about $1000.00, for the set, which was about $1000.00 more than I had available
Any information or any leads to to Civil War themed railroads is appreciated.
I believe that was made by Kalamazoo, now defunct.
Bachmann has a spectacular 4-4-0 thats 1000% better than the old Kalamazoo engine
Hartland is producing an updated version of the Kalamazoo engine but for the same $$ you can get the Bachmann. The only advantage of the Hartland engine is that it works on R1(4ft dia.) curves, the Bachmann needs 6ā dia.
Dave,
Just wondered what you had in mind for a layout? Are you after all the pieces per say, or just the train? Sounds like you may a have a very different idea for a layout. At least from anything I have seen. Later ehā¦Brian.
I am a Civil War buff and I had a Civil War themed HO layout many years ago. Now theat I have moved up to big toys I am thinking about doing it again. But, I have not been able to find a source of F scale Civil War figures, artillery, wagons, etc. I am also thinking fo building a couple river gunboats to put in the new water feature. Once again, I canāt find suitable scale guns.
Dave,
What scale are āBritiansā miniatures? I have seen them at our local toy shop but never paid a great deal of attention to them. I like the idea for your layout and with it being outdoors really lends itself to some nifty scenes. Burnt, half burnt buildings could be done easily and truly realistic. Would be cool to set up an āambushā scene on the line. The whole theme has many possibilities. Best of luck!!! Later ehā¦Brian.
There is an Echo G scale Civil War train set for sale on EBay. Itās one of those cheap battery operated sets, but maybe you can get it cheap and kitbash something from it.
