G Scale Question

Hi folks I’m new here. I’m not really a railroad modeler although I am a railfan. I do build 1/24 - 1/25 trucks. Currently I am working on a Monogram 1926 Mack AC. I was wanting to put some kind of (period correct) logging or mining equipment on it. But all I’ve been able to find costs way more thn my budget allows. Does anyone have any suggestiong on where to look for a kit or scratchbuilding references?

Thanks
Dave

Thanks Mr. Smith. Yeah I’ve been there. They have some really nice stuff, but its a little more than I want to spend. I might end up getting something from them. I really like that donkey engine but $130 is a little steep. If anyone else has any other ideas I would apreciate it.

Hi Dave,
Have a good look at the gear you liked at Ozark and then look at everyday stuff with the medelers eye and see what you can use. A round piece of timber/plastic becomes a boiler, plastic tubes from inside till rolls become air tanks or pipes, brass rod is the pipework, all of the steam pipe details at Ozark are well cheap and very good detail. Over in the UK our local DIY stores sell all shapes and sizes in aluminium rod, andle, beam etc. Have fun mate.
VIC, got my parcel from Ozark yesterday, what marvellous detail gear it is, very pleased with it and already looking at the next project. I have 2 playmobile 0-4-0 bogies that I think will make a very nice inside cylinder articulated loco or even represent a geared loco.
Cheers,
Kim

Thanks Kim. That is an option. I have some electrical transformers that come with AMT’s old lowboy trailer. I think they would be a good start for a boiler. Does anybody know of some good reference material for a donkey engine?
