Just got a American Flyer 23780 Gabe the lamplighter flood light tower not working for $20. When I got home I was pleased to find Gabe climbs the ladder ok and slides down too, he just dosen’t light the lights. Anyone ever work on one of these? It’s the repro made in 2001 and says AC Gilbert and Lionel both on the box # 6-49805. Thanks, Denny

I’ve got one, but have not had to work on it 'cause it works (but mine cost a lot more than $20!).
When Lionel’s website comes back up, you can access the parts list, exploded view, and wiring diagram for the 49805. Gabe hits a contact switch at the top and activates/deactivates what appears to be an equivalent of a mechanical latching relay. You’ll need to troubleshoot for a bad/loose wire, a bad/mis-positioned contact switch, or a bad circuit board.

It is supposed to be down for maintainence. I thought it would be back up by now.
Seems to need a new main board, went to Lionels website and downloaded the parts diagram, it said its avalable, got the part number, then went to part prices and no listing[:(] Now what?
