They should put it in a transparent capsule…next to the courthouse…
The Pierce-Arrow headlight, atop a fender separate (or faired in to the hood) was/is one of the supremely beautiful, elegant and efficient use of the space in front of our open eyes.
Was No 4 derived from a P-A or Buick? Don’t know. But the Pierce-Arrow headlight assembly and the Douesenburg Ducktail roadster which were in Oceanside, LI, NY in the early '50’s had to infect my esthetical grey matter.
Is No 4 a P-A derivative?
“Display”?? Seems to me that after all that work it should be put in service and be operated. Just saying…
Yahoo one of the best stories I have read in a long time volunteer firemen are great in or out of the cab
I wonder if “The Guse” was at last year’s “Goosefest” at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden.
Isn’t that “Ridgway”? DPM is rotating, again.
A big THANK YOU to the Teluride FD for having the restoration done, and for allowing the trip to Goosefest!! It was nice to ride in both the tourist/freight body and Wayne bus!! Hope they will consider further operations!!
Can’t wait to see it at the bluegrass festival in 2014!
Nice to read this. We were in Ridgway three years ago --a wonderful museum where an exact replica of Goose No. 1 is on display there. We saw No. 4 in Telluride too. Great that these folks understand that unique heritage! Good for them and us!
NICE TO READ NICE NEWS FOR A CHANGE!

What a disappointment! I read the headline and assumed this would be an article about Jeffrey from Illinois taking a trip to Colorado.
I wonder if there is any remaining right-o-way in Telluride? I assume it all built upon. I figure those ski yuppies could care less.
While I usually do not concur with almost all of Mr. Guse’s of Illinois comments, he has a right to voice them, and there are times when his insight is noteworthy. I also believe comments meant only to belittle or make fun of him are just as cringe worthy. Please continue to debate his comments and offer different opinions or list facts that debunk his claims, but piling on because his name may be a possible joke is on the verge of bullying. Just saying. That being said I love the Galloping Goose, and have ridden one many years ago…
Cannot agree with my fellow readers’ comments about how wonderful this article is. A picture of the car would have been a major enhancement to the article.
