Hi guys,
here’s some pics of the train show that was held at the Galveston Railroad museum today 5/20…There were some nice layouts but not many vendors there… This is the first year for the event so maybe it will be better next year…They definately need more space as a lot of the layouts had to go outdoors…not good on a windy or rainy day…chuck

can you guess you the guy on the left is?..he’s a regular here at the forum…i’ll give you a hint…his initials are M.P.

This F-7 used to pull a passenger train that traveled from Houston to Galveston in the late 80’s…it was called the “Texas Limited” …It ran for about 3 years until lack of business and ability to turn a profit cancelled the excursion.

Yours truly…(I really need to lose about 50 pounds)

Sorry I missed it, but that’s a long drive for me. I was at a club in Beaumont a few weeks ago and the guys were talking about preparing for the show. I think the club leader there was the show sponsor for the model railroad part anyway.
Who’s MP?
That’s a great museum that they have there in galveston.
Best regards
Ed
Hi Ed,
I’m M.P., actually M.C., as in Mark Couvillion. I saw Chuck at the show bright and early Saturday morning, just as we were getting underway. We had a good discussion.
The Geeps you see are the lead on the SP “Zipper”, the Overnight Merchant’s Express. The train is 36 boxcars long and has the 60’ Harriman coach as the caboose. It was supposed to be pulled by a brass Daylight GS-4, but the steam engine didn’t want to stay on the rails. Running the train in the afternoon sunlight was tough, as the heat caused the rails to get out of gauge. We ended up not running as soon as the sun hit the layout. Had a great time, though.

Mark,…I always try to make the train shows “bright and early” so to have first pick at the stuff on sale…that was the only thing that hurt this train show…lack of space and not many vendors…i wanted to stay longer but my wife was with me and it was our anniversary so had to move on about 11…it was a good show dispite the lack of sales people…chuck
