Due to poor planning on my part I have several gaps where my foam board does not quite match up accurately leaving gaps up to 1/2 inch wide. What can I use to fill in those offending gaps?
I filled in the gaps with cut pieces of foam and filled in the spaces ( all be it small gaps ).
Bob. I’m not sure of the name of the stuff, but it comes in a can, like spray paint. It comes out a foam and expands…BIG TIME… and then hardens. Its easy to cut, like foam. I’ve seen it used on job sites. Maybe someone knows the name of the stuff, and can tell you.

I believe Robert is talking about “Great Stuff”. You can find it at any hardware store.
I had a mis-cut piece of foam that left me with a foot long wedge that went from 3/4" to 0". I just cut a matching wedge and shoved it in, bonded with Liquid Nails. A little plaster over the seam and I was good to go.
For gaps that size and larger, I use caulk and scraps of foam. It only has to be mostly filled in. For smaller gaps I don’t even worry about it, the roadbed will NOT sag in small gaps and make your track all wavy. I also only generalyl fill in the area where the roadbed will cross the gaps, various scenery methos will take care of the gaps that are not under the track.
