Glad I got my motorcycle.

Amen on not owning a Hummer.

Just one more reason I don’t live in southern California. I pay between $2.11 and $2.17 depending on where I am in Michigan.

[soapbox]Guys
Difficult to compare other countries and their cost of living.

But in the London area of the UK;

Litres into US gallons, we pay the equivalent of $5.86 per US gall.

If you visit the UK, rent a bicycle.

All the best

Hi guys, stop moaning about your prices. Here in the kingdom we have just drifted up a few pence to 81p per litre, that’s £3-65 per gallon-imperial or $6-87!! You guys get your petrol in US gallons which I think is slightly less than imperial so probably to equal us in US gallons you would pay around $6.20 ish. Of course being loyal supporters of queen and country we never moan and we have never had a fuel boycott of filling stations and refineries - oh, let’s see, for about 3 years.
If you consider what the oil companies put into getting a gallon of petrol into your car, the never ending search for new fields, the new technology, the rigs and refineries, the filling station networks and the supply vehicles from super tankers to road tankers and we, over here, pay £3-65 per gallon. Compare this to a brewery that has it’s own water supply, buys in natural products from established sources, has delivery costs transporting to established outlets and pay the same tax and duties as the oil companies. Yet they have the bare faced cheek to charge £16-00 per gallon for their beer. Work it out in your area and see if it comes out the same. Don’t moan about petrol prices, curse the brewers. Mind your car wouldn’t get very far on beer but I wouldn’t on petrol.
Cheers,
Kim

So Ben, what’s different now than in all the rest of recorded history???

Its got a bell that rings and things

FYI

Smart Cars of Europe will start selling here sometime this year. 70 mpg 80 mph and you can fit four in the same space of Ahnoolds Hummer H1

I’ve seen$ 2.09 to $2.19 a gallon. Hard when I burn a tank full a week.
Thank goodness the Big Block Camaro’s in pieces and parked at 6 to 10 miles per gallon I wouldn’t get far just broke$.

Here in Sth Oz average price per litre is $1.12. Multiply that by 3.8 to get US galls or by 4.54 for Imperial Galls ~US gall=A$4.25 or US$3.36/US gall UK£2.24/ Imp. gall

Hey Matt!

When I had my Road Runner I think I got about 4mpg or so. But you have to calculate the fuel cost of a really cool car with this formula:

price per gallon/ cubic inch of engine+ 3x length of burnout= smiles per mile.

As low as $2.099!!![xx(] Three of the four major oil companies had increased profits the last two years. I guess the high price only reflects increased crude costs…or maybe not. Remember this during your next election.

I don’t know what the price of petrol (gasoline) is in my neighbourhood.

My 1976 351 Cu in LTD runs on LPG which at the moment is A28c per litre. This is the equivalent of about US90c a US gallon.
Because Easter is coming up this weekend the greedy Oil Companies will raise that back up to A48c per litre and then drift back down to the current level.

The price of gas and fuel oil is tied to the price of crude, which is now up to over $60/barrel. OPEC has cut back on production while China is buying all the oil it can get. Not to mention that the known reserves of CHEAP oil are quickly disappearing. So it’s a matter of supply and demand and right now the demand is far greater than supply. And that scenario is not likely to change, ever. So maybe it’s time to start getting serious about alternative energy sources … and … Washington, are you listening? … CONSERVATION.

You can do the same calculations with my offering as Phil did with his. Queensland has the cheapest of everything in Australia including petrol benzine or gasoline whatever you want to call it. A$0.97 less $0.04 with shopper dockets per litre. However as s many people come here for holidays they will really hike the price , which of course under Australian law they cannot do, but they do somehow.

They also play silly buggers with the prices prices, they drop on tuesdays and contimue to drop until thursday, then they go up to weekend prices again thursday afternoon. They also bump it up om pension day as well.

So we take our car with our shopper dockets and fill it right up every thursday wether it needs it or not.

Rgds Ian

PS another funny thing has happened here with meat prices it is the heart of a big beef, lamb and pig producing area. Your best prime beef is slightly more expensive than sausages and bacon very good bacon sells for less than sausages ie A$4.90 per kilo.

I had to fill up at 86.9 per litre (Canadian) today. If we’d had the empty tank at the right time, we could’ve got it for 79.x.
You can do your own currency conversions.
We’re going down to the States this weekend to drain them dry at their ridiculously low prices!
