Has anyone had trouble fitting and lining up the pieces of tank on the Walters Cornerstone N scale 033-3819 gas tank?
that’s actually a coal gas tank
Yes it is a coal gas tank that will be used next to a coke oven plant. Putting it together has been a problem in that the wall sections of the tank do not meet. There are large gaps. I took it all apart and will try again. Possibly angling the support beams inward so that the wall sections will be wider at the bottom and narrower at the top.
scratch build?
For what it’s worth, that should be item number 933-3819.
I have two of the HO scale version and the parts fit together just fine.
You should call Customer Service and Walthers and describe your problem.
Ask them if this is a common problem with the N scale version.
If it is not, you should request a replacement kit. They are pretty good about that.
I see that it is currently in stock at Walthers, so that is good news for you.
Rich
The coke oven was a Cornerstone kit that went together well, although for some reason they didn’t include a quench car and hopper car like the HO scale model does. But we did scratch build the coke wharf next to the quench tower. (I’m helping my friend build a steel mill since I worked at one). He is the electronics and train go to guy and I enjoy the modeling aspect.
Thanks. I’ll try rebuilding it first. Then if I still have a problem, I’ll give them a call. I already have about 3 hours into this one.
Now I feel like a dummy. I was trying to install the tank wall sections on the INSIDE of the supports instead of the OUTSIDE of the supports. My apology to Walters and Cornerstone.
