My niece came over yesterday with her 8 year old son he has a polar express train set set up in there basement on a plywood table. I showed him my collection of trains and he told me he saw a diesle engine like the one i have in a catalog. Well without hesitation i took it off the shelf and told him it was his he looked at me and said for real i said its yours. The look on this boys face when i gave it to him was priceless. "I think i made a future model railroader " Its good for the hobbie. Bubba[:)]
A few months back, I gave away a Marx 666. I wasn’t being generous so much as superstitious. The number on the cab creeped me out. Too bad, because it was on fine little engine.
Those are grear runners. Mine didn’t have a smoke unit. The guy I gave it to returned the favor a short while ago and gave me a Marx 1666 with a smoker in it. Nice running engine, but it doesn’t pull much. Plastic shell - doesn’t have any weight. But right after the 1 is the 666! Boogah boogah!
Since everyone is in the giving mood I will be over…I remember the day I received my first Lionel set that my Uncle gave me. It was a steam engine 4-4-2 Passenger set very common, maroon and orange Milwaukee set, from the early 70’s (Fundimensions). I ran the snot out of that set and I was hooked instantly. Still have the set today…
