I’m looking for the pulling power for the Kato GE AC4400CW. I got it last night and was wondering how many cars it could pull. I would also like to know the minimum scale speed it will run at.
If you know on the internet where i could get this info, I would like to know if you had experience with this locomotive. Pull estemates also appretiated[:D].

I’ve got 3 Kato AC4400CW’s and they will pull a ton of cars. How many? I don’t know but I have pulled 60 very easily with one of them, it would easily pull a bunch more. I don’t believe there is any type of info for what your looking for available. As for the speed question mine will crawl very very slowly. If yours runs like mine then you will be very impressed with its performance.
Is your AC4400 N-scale? Or is it HO?
There was a review of the HO AC4400 in MR a while ago. I believe it said it could pull around 80 free rolling cars, and the slow speed was probably around 3 scale MPH. I could be wrong, but I think that’s what it said.[:D]
Here’s the Model Railroader review of the Kato AC4400. The review says it will pull 85 free rolling cars on straight and level track[wow]

The MR review for this engine says that it can pull 20 free rolling cars, so it’s not as powerful as the HO one. They also said there’s a slick plating on the wheels, so it should be more powerful once that wears off.[:D]
MR also said that the minimum speed it can be run at is 3.5 scale MPH at 1.1 volts, which is pretty good for N.[:D]
They didn’t mention the top speed, and they didn’t put the entire speed range on the speed graph, but based on the line’s slope, I’d say its top speed is around 160 scale MPH.[:0]
The engine can make it around a 9.75" radius.
If you’re good at painting, you may want to paint the window on the nose door black, so it’ll look like a window instead of a pointless square.[:)]
