Kansas City Southern

Norfolk Southern
SD70M-2 (52) Units
ES40DC (50) Units The ES40DC (Evolution Series 4000 hp DC transmission) replaces the former Dash 9-40CW model in GE’s range and, like the former model, has been delivered only to Norfolk Southern.

Union Pacific
SD70ACe (115) Units, assigned road numbers 8309-8423
ES44AC (200) Units The ES44AC (Evolution Series 4400 hp AC transmission) replaces the former AC4400CW model in GE’s range. These locomotives have been ordered by both the Union Pacific Railroad (who refers to these locomotives as the C44ACCTE, the CTE stands for Controlled Tractive Effort) and the BNSF, and deliveries to both are ongoing as of 2005.

Canadian National
ES44DC (50) Units
SD70M-2 (25) units

Montana Rail Link
SD70ACe (16) Units, assigned road numbers 4300-4315

BNSF
ES44DC (150) Units, assigned road numbers 7650-7799
ES44AC (50) Units, assigned road numbers 5748-5797
BNSF is still interested in testing EMD’s SD70ACe’s after EMD installs distributed power on several units to allow BNSF to test them in DP coal service.

First thing,The UPRR calls their GEVO’s ES45AC CTE or C45AC CTE not C44AC CTE!
Secondly,That will be very interesting to see if the BNSF does order any SD70ACe’s.
And Thirdly,With the new GEVO’s that are coming out in full swing now,What will happen to the AC4400CW’s currently in use now?
BNSFrailfan.

Uh…use them just as they do now.

Hello,

I know the post says North American orders, but don’t forget that BHP Billiton Iron Ore in Australia is getting 13 SD70ACes from EMD. I think they’ll be out later this year, but I’m not sure of that.

To BNSF railfan,

Thanks for the correction on the UP “GEVO” Units. On another note, if and when BNSF starts to replace their 750+ SD70MAC’s perhaps the SD70ACe’s maybe a good fit. What do you think?

To Whumper,
Thanks for the information on the Austrailian SD70ACe’s.

Best regards,

[:o)] They will scrap all of them and buy SD70ACEs. the 4400s wern’t ugly enough[:o)]!

BNSF has now ordered and taken delivery of SD70ACEs (30 I think). There are pictures of them on Railpictures.com

BNSF has ordered AC GEVOs numbered up to 6138 and all SD9 wil be renumered.
And BNSF has changed there orginal order of 70 SD70Ace to now back to 30 of them.

That’s interesting, wonder if GE’s past problem was fixed?
