Im sure this has been discussed plenty of times already, but in case not, have you all noticed all the GE commericals lately that praise their new eco friendly locomotive? Noticed the commercial quite a bit on CNN and a few other channels.[:D] The locomotive is in blue and white colors.
I think it’s a very clever commercial as well. I bet it cost a mint to make!

I think I just saw it on either the History Channel or Discovery Channel or TLC I don’t remember which . . .
Real cool though I wondered when they would come up with that one after all their other ones . . .
Matt
History Channel. Loved it. I have to wonder who their target audience is… because I don’t think GE just throws ads like that out there just for public relations. (If they do, I believe we ought to encourage this sort of irresponsible behavior, and to perdition with the stockholders!)

They have the GE locomotive running but also have another one touting the other GE products. Don’t forget, even shippers watch tv.
Going to have to pay attention to the commercials on The History Channel!
I believe those are known as brand awareness commercials and there have been a series of them over the years. Besides the diesels, they’re also running one for eco-friendly jet engines and not long ago they had one for industrial water treatment equipment.
Another commercial I noticed recently is the Coors Light Arctic Express which has an animated steam-loco pulling a streamlined train in the snow. It looks a little like a chrome plated N&W J, but it’s really hard to see the wheel arrangement.
Loved them. Clever and well done like many of their other commercials. GE is definatly at the top of their game. And their new products are second to none by far the most quiet, best responding and most comfortable locomotive ive ever worked on.
The commercial is very well though out.
I wonder when there’e going to start outsources the contruction of those babies to overseas markets. You know, like when you flip over one of those panels & it says,“made in China.” Easter
Darn it!! I haven’t seen the new commercial for GE’s GEVOs yet. I guess I have to keep a sharp look out for that one!!! I have seen a show on the Discovery channel on the GEVOs and SD70ACes that was a while back.
Seriously I think that GE has some clss when they do their commercials . . . at least they acknowledge the past and blend it with the future . . . the one with the jet engine and the locomotive tickled me quite a bit . . .
Matt
I like the commercials also. I like the GE Clean coal coal mining one to
I guess you guys haven’t seen the one where the elephant does the Gene Kelly routine to Singing in the Rain tune…GE touts their eco friendly concepts…
At least the elephant has fun!
Ed
My wfe thinks the elephant is the best. It’s cool.

G’day, Y’all,
I work for GE and like all the commercials except the one of all the smoke at the Golden Spike ceremony since I’m a steam fan. I think the person who pointed out that this is brand awareness advertising got it right. And don’t worry about GE share holders. Most are employees and GE can definitely afford to spend a few bucks since it is the biggest company in the world.

I guess I will have to start getting cable so I can see those commercials. However for those others of you out there who don’t have cable GE had a nice advertisement in a recent issue of Trains magazine with a foldout and some great pictures of their new environmentally friendly locomotives. Sorry I can’t remember what issue it was in but I know it was not to long ago.
I sure wi***he camera would linger a couple of seconds longer on the GEVO loco in the commercial. Otherwise it’s a well done commercial. And while we’re on the topic of GE commercials, has anyone seen the one depicting the first flight of the Wright Brothers’ plane? The camera pulls back to reveal a GE jet engine on top of the plane! At the commercial’s end, it shows the same plane crusing above the clouds with a sunset in the background.
