GE E60

Can anyone tell me which railroads had or has E60 electric locos in use? i saw a model of a conrail e60cf, did they have these locos?

Micha

The only original owners of E-60’s were Black Mesa & Lake Powell mine to power plant RR ( E-60C) and Amtrak with E-60CP double ended for the Northeast Corridor. Does that help?[:D][:D]

Penn-Central bought the first ones about the time of the merger. Perhaps the Pennsy made the actual order, I don’t remember. BMLP also bought some new and I think they have been the only road power they have ever owned.

Two of the Amtrak E-60’s are also at BMLP/Navajo RR, shipped there in the late 1980’s (Trucked from Bernalillo, NM to Page, AZ). One was the 960. …Some of the others I believe found their way to Mexico’s FCP.

What’s on the Deseret Western RR at Bonanza, UT?

Penn Central didn’t own or order any E60’s but they were involved in testing Amtrak’s first E60 - the one the came loose at 120 mph. The newest electrics PC owned were the PRR purchased E44s. Conrail tested a couple of EMD/ASEA electrics in the late 70s, but never purchased any.

NdeM bought some E60s for a “transcon” they took forever to finish band never electrified.

mudchicken, the Deseret-Western has E-60C-2. the only difference i can see is it has smaller windshields.
