I am trying to fix this for a friend. Does anyone have a gear set and wheels for it. It is a really nice looking engine with a cow catcher on it. The motor runs really well and has a brass worm gear on it. He had this when he was a kid. He does not run trains but he would like to set it up for a christmas with his lionel o scale engines. Am I gonna be able to fix this for him.
Scale? Make? Any other info you can give us?
Looks like a Life-Like HO scale 0-4-0 “Tea Kettle”.
sorry that would be useful. It is HO scale, says made in china on the bottom, the pic I posted was found on ebay under tyco. I will try under life like also.
also found it exactly on ebay under life like. guy want 16.00 for it and 12.00 to ship. yeah right
The tender shown does NOT go with the Locomotive.
Take the motor out of the loco, make it a dummy. Life-like does not have parts for this any longer, and when they did the cost was sky high.
The owner can remember this with many fond memories, get another NEW one from
most shops or by mail order.
Yeah I know the tender does not go with the engine. This was an ebay photo not his. It really won’t roll either without some work to the rods. I oiled them up a bit and am trying to break them in. I will look on line for another one for him. Maybe another one that I can steal the running gears out of.
