General HO Locomotive Circuit Board Upgrade

If one plugs in a Digitrax DH165LO into a DC circuit board with the 8 pin NMRA DCC socket will it work?

The ‘L0’ decoders are specific for use in P2K engines. They have on-board resistors for the lights in the engine.

Huh? What? I am confused. The Digitrax DH165XX series of decoders are light board replacements. They have NO 8 pin plug or socket. They have a MINI-8 pin plug on the board for connecting a sound bug…so I dont understand your question.

My advice to you is to do some reading on DCC because your posts are very, very vague and it is very difficult to help someone who’s ideas are scattered in their posts. If you want a clear answer, you need to ask a clear question.

Not strictly correct. The DH165L0 does have an 8 pin plug - it is designed to plug into the 8 pin socket on P2K locomotives by replacing the original board. However you probably couldn’t physically plug a DH165L0 into an 8 pin socket on say an an Atlas locomotive and even if you could the lights probably wouldn’t work as the DH165L0 has a low voltage output to suit the P2K lamps.

Perhaps the original poster could explain why he has asked this question. I wouldn’t use a DH165L0 in anything other than a P2K loco.
