A past posting referred to a company that sold, for the lack of a better term, generic flat cars. The company also sold the flat cars with loads. I believe they sold for $15.00 apiece.
Does anyone remember the company or their web site. [?]
Town & Country hobbies has offers generic flats in four colors with brake wheels and neat little inserts to install in the spots you don’t place the brakewheel.
Cool, I was interested in some generic flats so I could make some of my own custom things. Are there any generic, cheap empty gondola cars available too?
“Good price may pick up a few of them, realy like the cheesey loads especialy the tank and jeep. and they include trucks”
CSX, I remember seeing such loads heading to war in the early 70’s. We also have them in the local yard heading out of the Marine base. I may have to pick a few of these up. Also, I would be interested in unmarked box cars. Anyone know of a source?
My impression is that the T&C cars may be new tooling. In the past, I’ve seen some pretty rough copies in the market - O gauge flats with portions of the Lionel Corp. name and S gauge flats with the A.C. Gilbert name not entirely gashed out. These T&C cars are very cleanly done products.
Nice trucks(pickups) on the flat. I wonder if they are close to scale or on the small side?
Some one on another forum thread asked if this was run by walkers hardware, so I used map quest and found that Town & country hobbies and walkers hardware have the same address.
That person gave a negative review about price and service from them in the past.
Price wise I think they are fine, but would like to know if anyone has had any positive expereince with them. I am not one to take one review for gospel.
I have purchased from Town & country several times both at shows and online. Never bought any of the flat cars but have bought parts, lamps & figures. Always had a good experience with their service & very friendly and helpful at shows.
