Genesis F7 air intake grills

Does anyone supply replacement Genesis F7 air intake grills?

I have tried the “chicken wire” grills from Detail Associates but it is impossible to remove the clear backing. And they do not look that great.

The Genesis F uses a Highliner shell, and Highliner sells the grilles separately. See http://www.walthers.com/exec/manuinfo/328/Highliner.html .

I’ve worked with Detail Associates parts attached to the rubber backing material. Soak in lacquer thinner (if I’m remembering that right - the solvent is listed on the package) and they come right off. Use anything else and they may not. Maybe they’ve changed the backing and it’s not as cooperative as it used to be. Regardless, the DA parts, whether or not they come on the backing, aren’t specifically designed for the Highliner/Genesis shell so Highliner grilles are probably a better option.

Here is a link to the specific replacement part that wp8thsub is referring to:

Those are the ones you need, but as usual with so many parts these days, Walthers lists them as out of stock.

Might want to contact Athearn directly and see if they have any (doubt it, but you never know).

Mark.

Out of stock, but expected November 16. Walthers is pretty good about accurately reporting replenishment dates on out of stock items.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your info regarding the intake screens. The instructions do say to use solvent but not what type of solvent. I have found the correct part number for Walthers “Farr Intakes” which helps.

Hi Richm

Thank you so very much for the part number. I have placed a backorder for these parts which are supposed to be available in November. Actually purchased several as I am sure they will go fast.
