Going to aquire an Atlas Genset ofr my railroad, actually two. Problem is, one area where they will be running requires Dynamic Brakes (based on a 1954 PRR timetable), which I figure I’ll have to add. I know some of the NRE and PRE Gensets are equipped, but they don’t seem to have the tell-tale radiator grilles like I expect, so what’s the giveaway?
The DB equipment is in the end of the long hood, see picture of a CSX unit wht DB:

To add to what Randy said, most NRE genset do NOT have D/B’s. Here is an interesting link:

Big Help Randy, thanks. Now to find out what the top of the Atlas model looks like. Off to my LHS!
Jim, that pages takes me to an IBM hing with a bunch of specs on a software document, what am or should I looking at?
Ah, gotcha. I thought it was a web doc I got misdirected. Bookmark’d and I’ll keep checking into that site. Thanks!
Good Luck finding them at an LHS. They tend to sell pretty quickly.
Mine actually still has one on a shelf last I saw it. (last wednesday) Probably spooked off customers with that whole decoder fiasco. (is hoping that’s fixed in wave 2), but it’s odd because that LHS is a hop, skip and two jumps from the Avon Yard, where there’s 2 or more Gensets running about.
Hmm. Okay, it looks like I now see the major glaring differences: taller long hood, aller radiators on top, more pronounced fan, and a double grille per prime mover where the non-dynamic has just the one.
