George Carette & Co.

I have a couple of train cars with the Carette Logo. Where could I find the value of these cars? Would appreciate any information. I am aware they were made between 1905 and 1910. The color of the cars are yellow (Maize) with a red stripe on one and a green stripe on the other. Thanks for any help

Thanks Doug! I will contact Ray.

There is a Carette trolley set being auctioned on e-bay right now. Go to O Scale trains and sort highest price first and look down a page or two. Colors of the cars and stripes match your description.

Thanks Roy, I was there a few days ago, must have missed it!

Georges Carrette and Co. made trains (and other toys) in Nuremburg, Germany. Because Carette was a Frenchman, when World War I broke out, the company was forced to close and Carette had to leave Germany. Therefore, all Carette items date from before WWI. I would imagine that your cars are the same as those in the ebay auction, as these trams were probably Carette’s most popular product and are certainly the easiest to find of all the trains they made. However, this doesn’t mean that they aren’t valuable or sought after by collectors. Keep in mind, though, that the set in the ebay auction is a complete original set in mint condition with the original box. Having the box dramatically increases the value and two cars alone (even in excellent condtion) would be worth less than half of what a perfect complete boxed set would be. Check to see if your cars are motorized or unpowered. Ones with motors are obviously going to be worth more than the trailers that they pulled. I would guess that you would have one of each.
