Some corrections. The travel time Erfurt-Berlin was reduced by 50 minutes, it’s now ~1:50 hours, instead of ~2:40. The trains used on the line are capable of 230 km/h (143 mph) only (ICE T), so that’s the normal travel speed on the new line. The trackage allows for 186 mph, though, but we might see that only after the southern extension of the new line (to Bamberg) opened in Dec. 2017.
