Looks like he went crazy with the zeros…

The value of most layouts in the secondhand maket is generally similar to the value of the track on it. Maybe $250 is closer to the mark.

$25,000 ?!?!?! For that ?!?!?! I’d expect it to be fully scenicked at least; not just a piece of bare plywood. Its not even DCC !

Timbowa, that decimal point still needs to be moved over to the left one place. I’m sure it’s a typo…

He did say the building was for sale also , “everything goes together not seperate”. (I know I’m being too literal) LOL.

Somehow I think he was referring to the Building on the layout - maybe worth $5-$10…

And just think he’ll probably pay a listing fee to ebay based on the $25,000 with no sale…

Here’s a good one, he has the listing on ebay put up 2 time in different auctions. Maybe he is going to sell the house with it. Who knows! I looked at a small collection awhile back and was very interested, until the guy told me the price!

For $25,000 the Dunham Studios (makers of the City Bank Christmas train display in NYC) will give you a custom built layout worthy of the pages of MR. This guy’s ad could only appeal to a total idiot!

I believe he is selling the building, probably a house, the layout is in, as well as the layout. It might be a good deal.

Maybe his wife said Get rid of that lousy train! So he put it up for a rediculas price.
"sorry Honey…No one wanted it…[;)]

The other ad actually shows a display case with what appears to be locomotives in it. Don’t ask me anymore as it is very hard to make out anything.

Put it this way - if you want to make good money, you need to present it a whole lot better. A picture might equal 1000words but in this case - NOT!!

Um, what is this guy on? I think he added a few too many zeros. $250 or less would be much closer as to what this set is worth. HO just isn’t worth much.

So— This is free enterprise, sell $11.00 worth of crap for $25,000.00 Just don’t be surprised if someone buys it ! !

Tracks must be made of Gold and Still not worth the asking price.

Fergie

Ad says “easy payment plans” ROFLMAO!!![:D]

Look at all of those Atlas remote snap switches. Its not even a good example of what it is. Its pure D junk.

I emailed the seller and asked about his price…his response:
iam selling 75 diesels engs 28 steamers. 200plus box cars. 75plus passenger cars. tables. transformers swithches. tracks houses. turntable.this all belong to my father. also selling some of the shadow boxed steamers. also the display case is going.

Too bad he didn’t think to have this info in his listing. It’s still overpriced.

Don Z.

I’d even think $250 is high because he doesn’t say what he’s selling

and somebody who types like that isn’t neccesarily the person you’d want to deal with.

Have some mercy, guys. I’ve e-mailed the seller explaining a few of the obvious problems with his auction. The seller doesn’t know how to sell model trains on eBay, and probably has to deal with Dad’s way over-estimation of what the collection is worth as well. Dad obviously valued some pieces highly, because of the display case. Of course, if (probably isn’t) over 50 of those locos are brass, you’all and I may have to eat a few words!

While I seen brass locomotive collections worth over $25,000 I never seen a layout like that worth over $100.00.

Anybody notice that old MRC “Golden Throttle Pack” on the bottom left hand side of the picture??
