After A very long hiatus I will be getting back into the hobby and am currently planning my first layout. I recently purchased a DCC control was well. However the more I found myself reasearching the building process the more questions I have that hopefully you all can help me with.
The layout itself will be more so freelanced, my goal of it is to model the scenery in Southwest Pennsylvania in the 40s and early 50s with a focus on the Pennsylvania railroad. The layout will be a 4x8 (if the room allows) and HO scale. With that being said what turn radius should I look into getting if I want to run longer Locomotives and occasionally a two or three passenger car train?
I’m very excited to be back in the community and will certainly share progress as I go along.

Any chance of a bigger room? Modern equipment looks better on bigger radius curves. There are wall mounted around the room layouts, but if you want to watch trains go round and round, and many do, you need space for dog bones.
Unfortunitly no and I probably wont have any incredible amount of space for a while. Currently in a small apartment so space is definitely a factor. Another Goal with this layout is to build it so an expansion would be easy after I move eventually.
Thanks everyone. So s far as space goes my hands are a little tied, I had measured the room last night and a 4X8 will fit, just barely. I could consider a shelf layout however I enjoy continuous runs with some switching operations too.
