Got my first train set in 1954 (Lionel 027 set up) and then progressed to HO. Made a layout in 1980 from plans in Model Railroading (a 4 x14 dogbone) that I can’t remember the name of at the moment. Moved and had to dismantle the layout and then got back into the hobby with my son who joined a local teens model RR club. this involved modular sections and we traveled to many train shows in Ontario and upstate NY. Then he discovered girls and trains went down the tubes. he now has 3 sons and asked me to help him get the boys involved in the hobby. So here I am back at it. I want to convert my layout to DCC so will have lots of questions, the boys layout will be strictly DC until we discover how much the interest is going to be.
Great! Welcome back, have fun!
Welcome back.
Nice to hear that son’s interest is swinging back to model railroading and that he wants to introduce his sons to the hobby. I’d say he has some fond memories of he and his dad from years ago.
Plenty of folks here to answer your questions, when you get ready to ask.
Have fun,
Richard

Come in and try the waters of DCC, I just came back to the hobby three years ago and glad I switched. Here is a great FAQ’s on DCC to get you started.
