Getting re-inspired

For the last several weeks operation and construction on the Ultimate Layout had slowed to a crawl or less - seems that the only thing this old bear really wanted to do was hibernate!

Yesterday I opened my mailbox, pulled out my favorite hobby magazine…

WOW! Open the throttle, drop the johnson bar in the corner and hit the sand! Let’s get this business up to track speed!!!

Cover pic - my very favorite ever streamlined unit. Think Aero-train, after it had a chance to grow up, fill out and slim down in the best places.

Then, in the middle, a logging operation exactly like the one I want to model, even to prototype! Gorgeous modeling in HOn30 - hard to tell model from prototype.

Obviously not MR, RMC… Right. The magazine is Tetsudo Mokei Shumi. The cover model is the two cab cars of the 151-series Kodama EMU express (one’s a chair car, the other a coach.) I’d love to model them, but they never ran in my prototype area. As for the logger, it has the ‘flavor’ of the 1964 Kiso Forestry Railway - structures, rail infrastructure and rolling stock. The whole issue was like that. Blew me away!

Blew me right back into the railroad room, and back to work on the layout!

Thanks, TMS! I needed that!

That’s just what happens when the Mrs. or the oldest come at me with an idea for something. Or the latest MR comes in with the groceries on the first Monday of the month…just the right kick in the pants everytime [:D]
