Getting started all over again! Pics included!!

Well I arrived home from FL last Friday and started tearing out the old layout. Sunday morning I finished tearing it all out and taking it all appart. Now I am left with a room that is alot bigger than it has ever been. What should I do now?

Simple; Build a new layout.

I have been working a while as some of you know on this track plan

and here is some of my benchwork so far:

I am building this to be easily taken appart and moved. I will add wheels later but for now the layout will be stationary. Tomorrow I will start on the table top and that will bolt to this frame. Also I am going to have a shelf in the lower support brace.
So how am I doin?

I think your doin fine. looks like a lot of fun.

Ken.

Looks great! Let the momentum win…for now.

You have a winner !

I’m in there thick as thieves Mike. I just ripped apart the old 8x4 layout I had spent the last year “learning” on. When I added my 10x4 dog-bone expansion I became very unsatisfied with the original 8x4. It had no operating potential and just went around and around. So after much hand wringing and a lot of encouragement from all the guys here, who’ve “been there - done that - bought the T-Shirt”, I did it. I now have my bench work completed and am ready for the sub-roadbed. I wish you much luck and enjoyment with the new railroad.

Thanks for the support everyone!! I am hoping to get the table top done today (that is if Thomas does not decide that he wants to be born today). I have the subroadbed and roadbed already I just need to get some more #4 left switches. I will post more pics as the construction progresses.

Again thanks for the support!

OK no baby yet so I continue on the layout! I have the framework for the table done now just waiting for the ply to go on top.

Here is a shelf underneath for keeping some goodies

I put my Digitrax DCC system on the other side in its own box. (Same box as in the other layout)

This is the framwork all done just waiting for the tabletop. Notice the bolts that hold the table top to the legs. I did this so I can move the layout easy for shows or moving.
