Getting the shell off the Athearn AMD-103.

I’m attempting to get the shell off of my Athearn RTR AMD-103 to add some weight. I can get the sides open but I can’t get the shell to come off, do any of you know if the shell is glued? Or do I just need to put on more effort?

no, its not glued. You have to gently pry both sides open at the same time. I start at the back, lift the back off a little bit and then do the front. Whole thing should then lift right off.

Thanks alot. I finally got it off, I have no clue why it wouldn’t come off on my other tries.

Sometimes the little tabs on the frame get caught on the ladders below the doors if you’ve added them on. I am always very careful taking mine apart and I still manage to knock the steps off once in a while.
