Ghastly Cab Light in a SD24

I am currently servicing and building a pair of SD24’s from ConCor. The first thing that bothers me is the big bright cab light.

There ought to be a way to place a set of thin wires attached to a bulp that fits into the end holes of the unit.

Ideas anyone?

Put a bulb in a brss tube, Use Elmer’s white glue (or equivalent grade school white glue) to hold the brass tube in place. This is so you can remove it fairly easily when bulb replacement is required. Alternately, use an LED.

Make sure to use the appropriate resistor in series…

Good advice Nfmissmo!

Many long time modelers refer to the symptom that HighIron mentions as:

Engineer Being Fried In The Cab! [(-D][(-D][:P]

Athearn Blue Boxes are notorious for this. The brass tube is a good idea!

LEDs offer the advantage of producing no heat, so they can be almost snuggled right up to the headlight lenses.
