Those of you who are interested in laser cut structure kits for Colorado depots in HO or S scale, or for the parts for the Gilpin Hotel described by Jim Vail in two recent issues of Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette may want to visit Joe Fuss’ Web site for Ragg’s . . to Riches:

Thus far the depots are those for Ouray and Placerville, but other kits are planned.

Bob,
I have seen the Placerville kit and I must say it is excellent. Do you think Joe will do any West Coast prototypes???
Guy,
I can’t speak for Joe. His site says his production schedule for the rest of the year is full, but doesn’t note what it will be. Can you be more specific or provide plans, or both ? Why don’t you send him an Email from his Web site or to:

Guy,
Just in case you haven’t sent Joe an Email, I excerpted the following from the Upcoming Projects portion of his Web page:
“. . . To take a bit of a break from depots, we’re producing the Dolores Section Foreman’s House in S-scale next, and will be posting a photo witihin a few days. There have been enough requests to produce the Placerville Depot in O-scale, but it most likely won’t fit into the schedule until early this summer. Our next HO project is the Ridgway Depot (Ridgway, Colorado), which should be available in late March, 2005. After that, look for the Durango Depot in at least S-scale. Our year is pretty well booked up with more great structures to come, but I’ll wait until they’re nearer to reality to mention them! . . . .”
Hope that whets your appetite.

Bob,
It looks like the Colorado thing is on his schedule for a while. Eric Bracher (Rio Grande Models) just came out with a kit of Laurel station, which is west coast prototype (I think Joe cut the parts). I think he is also coming out with the Westside dispatchers office as well. And there is always scratch building. If you haven’t been to the RGM site google Rio Grande Models, great stuff!!
Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with this thread. Things have been hectic around here – we’re shipping the first of our Dolores Houses tomorrow morning. It’s a neat kit, and has nearly twice as many parts in it as our Placerville Kits. The instruction booklet turned out to be 24 pages long, and includes 34 photos. It was a job putting it together!
To answer your question about West Coast kits: yes, I designed and cut RGM’s Laurel Depot (HO), and the same for the West Side Dispatcher’s Office (HO,S, and O). I’m working on a quick little kit for RGM for the West Side’s car sprayer – a small deck and valve house. Eric (RGM) has a whole list of West Side structures he’d like done, but finding time is the tough part.
If you have a specific “want” for a kit, feel free to let me know. If we can come up with 10 folks that want the same kit, it gets on the schedule a lot faster!
Joe
