I’m trying to set one of these up, HO, but not sure how to do it.
I.e., it comes with six (to a side) piers, but no instructions on what their spacing should be.
So, is the spacing usually just freehand as long as the track lays ok, or are there required grades they need, that determine the spacing ?
Try putting one under each joint in the track and at either end of the bridge and see what happens when you run your train up it. If the train won’t climb it, you need one of the following:
- More piers, spread out further.
- More weight in the engine.
- Less weight in the train, not counting the locomotive.
- More locomotives.
I’d want a solid vertical support under every joint in the track. If precision cuts to length aren’t your bag, buy a bundle or two of door shims (ask in Lumber) from your home improvement store, they’re only a buch or two per bundle. Use tapered shims in opposing pairs, unless you want the track to tilt sideways above them.
