Giving a little back-New DCC Software

It’s probably a little early, but here goes…

http://home.comcast.net/~XNetTrain

I welcome your feedback, both pro and con. Please forgive any typos. I edited this page by hand w/o an editor.

The first alpha should be available in the next week or two.

Wow,

I thought I would get at least 1 or 2 feedbacks about what people wanted. Maybe I overestimated the need for these features?

Sounds great Don, it’ xpressnet based? so I can use it for my Lenz system?

I book marked your page the other day when I looked at a posting of yours, so I’m looking forward to a download. Where’s the best place to buy an adaptor?

Ken.

Man, that looks interesting. I won’t be able to use it (MRC owner), but it’s still pretty cool.

How about this for a feature (maybe you already have it) - the ability to use your computer keyboard and mouse as an additional cab?

the software looks very interesting , it’s great of you to give this back to the hobby as freeware .

now all you need is a Loconet version [;)]

I like the idea. How can/does this play with DecoderPro & Company?

Ken,

Yes it’s XPressNet based. You can pick up the LI101F anywhere that sell’s Lenz equipment. This is what you are looking for…

It will be at least another week or two until I get the tech demo out and it will be VERY simple. This is like a year long project. So you can probably hold off on that purchase.

Bikerdad,

This is a ground up implementation independent of DecoderPro. (Although I do respect their work so far, it wasn’t what I was going for.)

And yes it will be free. I’m posting source with each binary release.

Although the tech demo isn’t quite ready, I was hoping to get feedback on other aspects before I set everything in stone. You never know when somebody else might have a better idea, or way to improve something.

Hi DigitalGriffin

We need more guys like you creating this stuff, thanks. And the ability to use other devices and to customise interface is EXACTLY what I want.

Having said that, three things will keep me away, sorry

  1. it isn’t JMRI based/compatible. We’ve got JMRI. There is lots of great stuff in there I need. And more potential stuff coming from a larger group pf developers than yourself. I’m not going to jump onto a parallel track now.
  2. it isn’t open source. Yes you are posting source but you aren’t setting up a developer community - it looks like you intend to go it alone. Good on you but that’s gonna slow you way down
  3. it isn’t LocoNet (yet).

Cheers
Rob

WAY COOL

Thanks DigitalGriffin for this excellent freeware. My Lenz DCC system just got a whole lot better!
