Gleaming Tool

I finally decided to try the ‘Gleaming’ procedure on my track and soon realized it was a little awkward to burnish with the stainless steel washer. I made a quick tool to help with the process. Thought I would share it with all that might be interested. I just cut a 3/4" plywood handle out to the shape shown and glued the washer to it. It is very comfortable and I can put a little more pressure on without burnishing my fingers.

NIFTY idea!

Thanks for the tip With the pics!

I’ve heard that the gleaming works well for those who have done it. Lot of work, tho’. Let us know how it comes out.

I’m with 'ya, using a plain washer is not an ergonomic solution!

My remedy was a tad less artistic, I just glued a 1/4" x 1/4" piece of stripwood across the washer with Goo.

Jim, I just happen to have a great woodshop and saw the piece of 3/4 laying on the workbench. Having a bandsaw and belt/disk sander made quick work out of it. Being almost 70, I can use every bit of help with holding anything in my hands.
