Glendale Train Station

Anyone know exactly why the Glendale Train Station was remodled and now
stands vacant for almost 6 years?I do know the City of Glendale purchased it
'and the people in the city don’t care what happens to it.Amtrak moved its
stop from Glendale to Van Nuys.Amtrak California still makes about 4 ,2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. But there is never anyone there to
promote business. Dave Br.

Isnt Glendale station being used by Metrolink?

AMTRAK still uses the Glendale depot. It has been an unmanned station for quite a few years but scheduled stops are still made.

Save your ticket… the P.E. will rise again.

Most of the people in L.A. don’t know trains exist, period. Unless they have to wait for one of course.

For Pacific Surfliners, that is correct. But DaveBr was referring to the Coast Starlight, which no longer stops in Glendale. It now stops in the modern-but-boring Van Nuys station, which is staffed.

Thanks and Metrolink has the west portion and only uses the tracks and a seperate parking lot.The Station is seperate and is a Historical monument
and the city has the depot rented out to Greyhound and the inside is rented out to a small company.Amtrak California only stops a few minutes to pick passengers when going north and south. Amtrak moved its ticket agency
over to that small office in Van Nuys. Now it just speeds by with a wave from the Engineer. There has to be something, somewhere, somehow to have
them begin their stopping once more here in Glendale…Its really a hassel
to go to Portland,I have to take the Amtrak California to Van Nuys and Wait there for Amtrak. DaveBr.

I guess their thinking was that Glendale was too close to downtown, and most people would go there. Glendale is the nicer station, but I’m not sure there’s much you can do about it. Unless they decide it was better the other way. But since the VN one is manned, probably not. I’m kind of surprised it took them this long to change it.

Dave the Glendale Station is only 6 mile to downtown LA why don’t you Drive or call a Cab?

Same reason one goes to Fullerton instead of LA: Less congested; parking is free!
