I’m wondering if anyone out there besides me intends to take the Global III tour sponsored by the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, June 28, 2008?
I remember encountering the “mulligan stew” on a very hot day. No thanks! In 2006 the people involved with the hobo aspect comandeered the entire Trainwatcher Park parking lot for their four or five vehicles. Railfans who didn’t know about this event were not too happy.
The Global III tour will not stop at the Trainwatchers’ Park for reasons of crowding.
The tour will get to Global III on buses that will rendezvous at one of the truck stops out by Interstate-39 (sorry–haven’t found out yet which one, but there are only two). Time is estimated as an hour, but I’m not sure if that includes the conveyance to and from Global III or if the tour itself takes a full hour (anywhere in Rochelle is usually a max. of ten minutes from anywhere else, so don’t sweat it).
Tickets cost eight dollars apiece and can be obtained from the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce or at the gift shop at the Park – subject to availability.
If you find out which truck stop gets the Global III tour buses, please let us know here!
I look forward to meeting you. Before the event please post or PM me a photo or what to look out for. My avatar is a pretty good likeness (but I am VERY fat)…
I was in Rochelle in very late April so sorry I will miss it unless I hit the Texas lottery by then. Do not miss the Butterfly near the Motel 8 for a dinner as it has terrific food [:)]
