Glue HELP!

Trying to glue clear styrene to paper. Tried white glue, carpenters glue, tacky glue, spray adhesive & CA. The CA sort of works, but discolores the styrene without even touching it. The only thing that works seems to be to soften the styrene with Plastistruct cement & press the paper into it. Really not good for small pcs.

Any other suggestions would really be apreciated. jerry

I think Rubber Cement might work. It seems to work gluing paper or cardboard to most things.

Good Luck.

Lately I’ve been using GO2 Glue. It’s safe for plastc, is crystal clear and remains flexible.

I made some car numbers for a dozen hoppers I got undecorated in Word and printed them out. I then copied them on a lazer copier so they were waterproof. I placed them on the cars and soaked them with Tenax glue by touching the brush to the paper which wicked it off the brush. That was over twenty years ago and none have come off.

What are you really trying to do?

Are you trying to attach the paper to the styrene so you can see the paper through the styrene, such as gluing curtains behind a window?

If you can make the paper larger than the area to be viewed and glue the paper to the styrene outside the visible boundaries that works. If you can sandwich the paper between the clear styrene and a backing surface then you can glue the styrene to the backing and the paper just floats between the two (think of framing a picture.

I only have a VERY narrow border to glue to. The question was what kind of glue would stick to the styrene & paper. These are not window shades or curtains that could have a large gluing surface.

use transfer tape.

I would use what,Jeffrey-wimberly, supplied the link to! Great stuff!

I have had success doing this with a product called Ultimate Tacky from Crafter’s Pick. I applied the glue in a very thin film and found a way to keep just a bit of pressure on the glue line while the glue dried. I found it at Micheal’s.
