glue problems

I am having some problems when I use scenic cement. I mixed the glue 1 part scenic cement cement 3 parts water but the glue does feel sticky. I have tried to glue lichin put it didn’t stick at all. Should I use white glue full with out thinning it instead. Hope fully someone can help.

thanks Billy

Instead of wasting money on “scenic cement” use plain Elmer’s white glue. You can use it full strength or 50/50 mix with water. Either way it should hold lichen in place once it has dried.

Sounds like you diluted the “cement” too much. WS cement doesn’t need thinning especially for holding clumps of foliage. To hold clump folliage, lichen and other, just use white glue or matte medium(ModgePog, etc) diluted about 50%. The clumps can be dipped and placed. If the glue doesn’t sink into the base, dilute with alcohol or wet water to break surface tension. Don’t wet the base too much of the material may not stay, especially on a slope.

Scenic cement is white glue that’s already diluted. I tried it and found it lacking. I use white glue diluted with water or alcohol, depending on what I’m doing. For lichen and such things I use white glue (1 part glue to 3 parts water), for ballast (glue to 4 parts alcohol).
