glue to use for mobile layout?

Hi folks.

My son and I are building a 4’x8’ layout using foam, primarily using the wedding cake method.

This layout will need to be moved at some point in the future, and to get it through doors, it will need to be rotated 90 degrees. My question - what glue (for foam to foam adhesion) is recommended to make sure things won’t fall apart when the layout is moved?

I’ve been using yellow carpenter’s glue thus far; will that do? Thanks!

The little bit I dabbled with extruded foam I used Liquid nails for projects that stuff seems to hold just about anything in place once it’s dried. When I insulated my bard with extruded foam, yeah believe it or not it does have another purpose other then model railroad landscaping…lol thats all I used to hold the panels to the structure walls. They also have these long screws with really wide washers but they are way too expensive.

I have been using clear latex adhesive caulking to hold my track in place as I discovered when reading Realistic Reliable Track from MR a few months back. It bonds with in 3 min. and it seems to hold just about everything. I recently used it to hold some rock castings and Chooch retaining wall sections. Yellow carpenters glue is a good choice for holding track and I imagine the foam as well but it just takes longer to dry. Knowing what I now know about the latex adhesive caulking I would have used it over Liquid Nails for my barn.

Latex caulk works great,

Just to clarify guys - you think caulk will keep things together when the board is turned on its side? Is carpenter’s glue strong enough?

Your yellow carpenters glue will do nicely. All my portable modules are glued with Elmers and have shown no problems in 7 years.
